Overview

Maggie Boyadjian represents healthcare providers in licensing, regulatory compliance, privacy, risk analysis, and contractual matters. Maggie has substantial experience representing the interests of reproductive healthcare providers, clinics, and children’s hospitals. She is uniquely qualified to help providers ensure healthcare provider compliance with regulatory bodies including, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS), the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), the California State Board of Pharmacy (BOP), the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), federal Office for Civil Rights (OCR), Office of Family Planning (OFP), Lab Field Services (LFS), Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA), and federal Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).

Prior to joining Murphy Austin, Maggie served as the Senior Manager of Compliance, Privacy & Risk at Planned Parenthood Los Angeles, where she maintained clinic licenses for more than 50 sites, and managed the policies, procedures, and operational manuals related to the organization’s risk, privacy, and compliance. She also provided oversight of privacy and security of the organization’s Protected Health Information (PHI) in compliance with HIPAA and CMIA.

Prior to her work at Planned Parenthood, Maggie served as a regulatory compliance analyst in the legal affairs department of a southern California children’s hospital, where she negotiated business associate agreements (BAA’s) for compliance with HIPAA and CMIA, and physician contracting. Prior to her work in the medical field, Maggie served as a criminal defense attorney, a civil litigation attorney in private practice, and clerked for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

Maggie received her B.A. in Criminal Justice from California State University, Long Beach, where she was a member of the Law Society. She earned her J.D., cum laude, from the University of West Los Angeles, School of Law.

  • Maintained clinic licenses for over 50 reproductive healthcare agency sites, managing licensing and permitting for new or expanding sites.

  • Assisted with oversight of corrective action initiatives for business areas stemming from ongoing compliance monitoring, risk mitigation analyses, and internal audit activities.
  • Managed reporting and provided logistical oversight of clinic programs to optimize privacy and security of Protected Health Information (PHI) in compliance with HIPAA and CMIA.
  • Participated in work groups to address both clinical and non-clinical activities to meet regulatory, contractual, internal, or other requirements.
  • Drafted, revised, and maintained appropriate clinic compliance policies and procedures, Code of Conduct, and Compliance Plan for a southern California children’s hospital.
