Monica Espejo's construction and litigation practice is focused on representation of developers, general contractors, public entities and subcontractor trades, on a broad range of issues including public and private contract disputes, licensing issues, and construction defect matters. 

Prior to joining Murphy Austin, Monica served for five years as Senior Counsel at Wolfe & Wyman LLP, where her practice focused on insurance defense of general liability matters, with a specialty in complex construction defect disputes. 

Monica received her B.A. in Music at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where she was a Merit Scholar Recipient and earned Department Honors for Outstanding Achievement. She received her J.D. from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, where she was a volunteer for the Public Legal Services Society and a member for the Latino Law Students Association. Monica is a Board Member for Women Lawyers of Sacramento and currently co-chairs the Career Advancement and Retention Committee.

  • Actively represent public and private clients in all aspects of the construction trade including issues concerning contract claims, delay, and licensing disputes.
  • Represent contractors and subcontractors in complex construction matters from pre-litigation through mediation, arbitration and special master proceedings.
  • Defend public entities, including school districts, in wide array of litigation such as personal injury and employment-related claims.
  • Regularly draft, review and revise construction contracts and negotiate settlements on behalf of clients.
  • Successfully defend matters involving personal injury, wrongful death, and complex trucking claims.
  • Regularly defend and represent clients in percipient witness and expert depositions.
